In December 2014, we appeared in the Christmas issue of Bon Appétit, one of North Americas best known and respected food and lifestyle magazines, together with Halvor Digernes from Fuglen Oslo who served an aquavit toddy, Anders Braathen from Smalhans who prepared the menu and Tim Wendelboe's crew who served coffee in style.
Academic conferences and seminars might be associated with uninspiring talks, bad food and poor logistics, so when The National Academy of the Arts (Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo - KHiO) wanted to make a proper event for design dialogue they knew they needed to change the format completely.
The instructions in the email were intriguingly vague. "Take the subway at 18:06 from Oslo Central Station all the way to Voksenkollen" – some twenty stops and 500 vertical metres away, and roughly where the compact urban-ness of Oslo gives way to the vast expanse of wooded hills that is Oslomarka.
