We gather again
— around the long table at Losæter
Future Farmers received the commission, and together with Mads Paulrud at Growlab, a number of organisations, the first city farmer Andreas Capjon, other city farmers and gardeners, and a number of artists were engaged. Together, they created everything from establishing a foundation with soil donated by 50 farmers to a ceremonial procession that was to transform a pile of gravel and an asphalt plateau at the foot of a ventilation tower into a green oasis and a community that took on a life of its own. For me, having been allowed to experience the transformation and take part in the journey, this is one of the most beautiful things I have experienced, both symbolically and in terms of learning, but also very tangibly through voluntary work and physical processes.Future Farmers were commissioned, together with Mads Paulrud at Growlab, a number of organisations, the first urban farmer Andreas Capjon, other urban farmers and gardeners and a number of artists involved. For me, who was allowed to participate and experience the transformation and take part in the journey, this is one of the most beautiful things I have experienced both symbolically and educationally, but also completely real in voluntary work and physical process.
Today Losæter is managed by the Agency for Urban Environment, they invite you to “Ask and dig” every Wednesday from 12:00-18:00, at the same time as the Herb Alliance hold volunteer days and FoodLovers co-create a meal for everyone involved. In addition, there is an art program throughout the year with lots of nice events, and one Sunday a month Rebecca and Wilder Kitchen host an open donation café in the project HumanKind.
It is therefore a great pleasure to be able to invite you here. The format is a slightly long lunch; we make it easy for you to come alone, bring a colleague or client, bring your small office, or treat it as an inspirational break. The team that has created these brunches together this year is musicians Esther Buchmann & Kristoffer Pahle with the projectThe Year, artist Hélène Arja and photographer Heidi Fagerlid, with the kind help of volunteers such as Shiori Bai. We create a seasonal menu, which right now is at its very best, and try to use as much as possible of what we find locally at the place we are. We also try to adapt so that everyone who, for various reasons, has to adjust their diet can also fully participate in this community. If you are one of them, please get in touch so we can make sure we have considered your needs. You can book your ticket at foodstudio.no.
The Community Brunch concept is now finishing its 4th year, and once again I see that running pop-up events in this format without a sponsor is only viable on surplus energy, and for my own part, I feel that creating a sustainable economy in my own life is first and foremost about having the foundation in place. Surplus projects must come last as a bonus when everything else is in place, so for 2027 there will therefore be a break. This means that this brunch at Losæter, and one more this year, will be the last opportunities to experience it for this time. We therefore hope that you clear your schedule and join us!
