Awaji Island is situated south of Osaka, and is a beautiful place with a relaxed island atmosphere. It is 110% self-sufficient so we were excited to explore this special place, meet the farmers and producers, and gather local ingredients for the Get Away.
Thanks to Shigekazu Yasuta for inviting us to Osaka, Shigeki Hattori and Naoko from Graf for developing the concept and making it happen, Kuniko for welcoming us to Awaji island, Masayo Funakoshi for an amazing menu, the beautiful kitchen crew Chihiro Wakisaka, Mari Kawanishi and Chinatsu Doi, Hirao Souma and Baibo for filming, Hamada Hideaki for delightful photographs and the wonderful Tina Dhingra, for helping us bridge the language barrier.
